colour_strip_03TESTIMONIAL

Half Term Bollywood Dance project in Cleethorpes for North East Lincolnshire Council; delivered by Zoobin Surty.

Zoobin SurtyZoobin worked with 18 young people aged 10 -15 over 5 days during February half term at the Lindsey School and Community Arts College. Zoobin’s vast experience working with young people to develop their own choreography skills was clear as he proved a strong facilitator throughout the week. The students were able to create and develop solos, duets and group work along with a set piece of choreography. The dance style was a cross between contemporary techniques, traditional Indian dance and Bollywood. The workshops were very physically demanding for the students as they developed their warm up techniques, practised running and perfected their ‘Mudras’. The students worked extremely hard and showed real dedication to the dance, which paid off in an excellent performance on the last day of the workshops at the school. Zoobin helped the young people design their own t-shirts for the performance; they found this most enjoyable and felt that they played a part in designing the look of the performance and were able to keep the t-shirt.

The feedback received for the week was also excellent as out of 18 students;

5 gave the week 8/10
6 gave the week 9/10
7 gave the week 10/10

All 18 students said they would like to take part in dance workshops in the future.
